Dropbox access without syncing everything
The official Dropbox desktop app is built around sync: it mirrors your account into a local folder and keeps both sides current. That is the right model when Dropbox is your primary working directory. It is the wrong model when you only need to reach into a shared folder occasionally, when the account is far larger than your free disk space, or when you are on a machine that should not hold a full local copy.
AnyStorage takes the other approach. It connects to Dropbox as a remote storage location and lets you browse folders, open files and transfer what you actually need, on demand. Nothing is mirrored to disk in the background.
One window for Dropbox and everything else
Dropbox is usually one endpoint among several. Design assets live there while build artifacts sit in S3, a client delivers over SFTP, and an internal share runs on WebDAV or Nextcloud.

When this fits better than the sync client
Consider a browse-and-transfer client when disk space is tight, when you work across several machines, when you touch a Dropbox account that is not your own day to day, or when constant background sync activity is simply noise you do not want.
It is also useful for handoffs. Instead of adding someone to a shared folder to move a single file, you can pull the file down and push it wherever it actually belongs.
Local-first and cross-platform
AnyStorage runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, and keeps connection credentials on the local machine rather than in a shared browser session. The free tier covers two storage connections, which is enough to try Dropbox alongside one other service before deciding whether the workflow suits you.
It does not mount Dropbox as a network drive and does not attempt to replace sync where sync is genuinely the right tool. It gives you the file operations — browse, search, preview, upload, download — in the same workspace as the rest of your storage.
